About Course

The pediatric advanced resuscitation program designed for healthcare providers to improve outcomes for pediatric patients experiencing respiratory emergencies, shock and cardiopulmonary arrest.

The goal of this course is to help you acquire the knowledge and master the skills needed to save more pediatric lives every day in any settings.

What Will You Learn?

  • Identify the scientific basis for PALS treatment recommendations based on the current science guidelines.
  • Perform prompt, high-quality BLS, including prioritizing early chest compressions and integrating early AED use.
  • Apply the BLS, Primary, and Secondary Assessment sequence for a systematic approach to the evaluation of pediatric emergencies.
  • Model effective communication as a member of a high performance team.
  • Recognize the impact of team dynamic on overall team performance.
  • Recognize and perform early management of respiratory distress and failure in a pediatric patient.
  • Demonstrate adjunct techniques to support and assist with respiratory stability of a pediatric patient in respiratory distress or failure
  • Recognize and perform early interventions for the treatment of shock.
  • Establish rapid vascular access to administer fluids and medications.
  • Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias.
  • Identify rhythms for which electrical therapy is indicated.
  • Demonstrate effective and safe use of manual defibrillator.
  • Perform early management of cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post-cardiac arrest care.
