Promoting Healthcare Wellness Through Sport

About the event

MEdwell Initiative is the first-ever healthcare wellness event in Rwanda, promoting teamwork, resilience, and well-being through sport. Organized by the Initiative for Medical Equity and Global Health (IMEGH) in partnership with the Rwanda Volleyball Federation, this event builds on 5+ years of research showing high risks of burnout among perioperative healthcare providers.

 Key Events & Details

MEdwell Serie A Volleyball Pre-season Tournament (Men & Women)

Venue: Kigali Petit Stade
Date & Time: October 10 -11, 2025
Eligibility: All men’s and women’s Serie A volleyball teams are invited. We expect at least 6 teams for each category.
Prizes: Top 3 teams in both men’s and women’s categories will receive awards, with the champions earning a trophy.

Healthcare Volleyball Tournament

Venue: Kigali Petit Stade
Date & Time: October 11, 2025
Eligibility: Any healthcare institution in Rwanda may register a team, first come first served. Up to 8 healthcare provider teams will be invited to participate.
Teams must include at least one female player among the 6 on court.
Prizes: The top 3 teams will receive awards, and the winning team will be presented with a trophy.

Evening Walk for Wellness

Venue: Kigali Golf Club
Date & Time: October 10, 2025, starting at 17:00 (duration approx. 45 minutes).                                    Eligibility: Open to all healthcare providers across Rwanda. Individual healthcare providers are welcome to register.
Benefits: Networking opportunities, wellness promotion, and free wellness tips during the walk.

Healthcare Awarding Gala Night

Date and venue: October 11, 2025, from 8:00 pm. Venue to be confirmed soon.
Eligibility: Open to registered healthcare providers, teams, and invited guests.
Awards: Multiple categories including Wellness Champion Awards, Public & Private Facility Awards, Professional Society Recognition, Best Wellness Education, Best Intervention, Best Research, and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
A special tribute award will be presented to healthcare providers who lost their lives during the recent Marburg outbreak.
Prizes: Trophies, certificates of recognition, and national-level acknowledgment.                          Entry fees: 300,000 Rwf for a Table of 10, 200,000 Rwf for a Table of 6, 20,000 Rwf per individual, and free entrance for invited guests.
